Sil Jeon Mu Sool and SWAT/LEO Seminar in NC

Hey everyone!

Reminding all the folks in the North Carolina region that Master John Duncan is hosting a Sil Jeon Mul Sool seminar at his dojang as well as a exciting SWAT/LEO defensive tactics clinic for several Police Departments in the area. I’ll be there July 24th through the 26th.

The SJMS seminar will cover various aspects of the art with emphasis on the integrative nature of hands, stick and knife in relation to grappling.

The SWAT/LEO clinic will cover CQB weapon retention measures, high risk arrest and control techniqes and officer ground survival methods.

If you are in the area and can attend, contact Master Duncan for more information on either of the events.

Welcome Master Duncan and Lion’s Pride Dojang

I want to welcome Master John Duncan and the Lion’s Pride Dojang in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Master Duncan is a Police Officer who trains both Law Enforcement Officers as well as civilian students in the Sil Jeon Taedkwondo Program as well as Hapkido.

“It’s month 8 here in the Rashid district of Baghdad, Iraq. The last few months have been spent developing informants and pulling alternative reconnaissance on identified IED making cell members as well as Shia intimidation special criminal gang cells. The work is long, tedious and sometimes pretty hairy. Once we gather enough information to make their dentention stick we conduct a raid called a cordon and search. And most of the time we get them. For the most part the Iraqi people are tired of the violence and want these criminals out of their neighborhoods but are in fear for their lives if they are found to be helping the coalition forces and Iraqi security forces. So, that makes it hard for us to get information, but it is being done.

I have the fortune to be operating with a great platoon of warfighters and am very proud of their patriotism and sacrifice. What little time off we have, we take the chance to go to our little gym and workout crossfit style. We also do combatives and there are a few that train with me personally in SJMS.

Only a couple of more months left in this deployment and we’ll be on the road home. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Let’s Get Training!”

American Combat Arts Federation Holds Weapons Seminar!

Instructed by Master Jim Mahan

Module One will cover:

Basic Single Stick:

Basic striking angles
Basic blocking techniques
Basic weapon disarming techniques
Basic joint locking techniques
Basic Single Stick pattern or form
Training exercises to develop this skill set
Sparring exercises to develop this skill set

Basic Double Stick:

Basic Double Stick striking angles
Basic Double Stick blocking techniques
Basic Double Stick disarming techniques
Basic Sinawali patterns

Module Two will cover:

Basic Knife:

Basic Knife slashing and stabbing angles
Basic Knife interception techniques
Basic Knife disarming techniques
Basic Knife pattern or form
Training exercises to develop this skill set
Sparring exercises to develop this skill set

Module 1 will be held 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., cost = $75
Module 2 will be held 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., cost = $60
If attending both Modules, total cost = $110
